At Iyengar Yoga Source in Providence, RI, our classes are crafted for a lifelong practice that adapts to you. We focus on precise alignment, thoughtful progression, and intelligent sequencing to build strength, flexibility, and balance—essentials for living well at any stage. While the physical rewards are striking, our approach, grounded in yoga's deeper roots, also fosters mental clarity and calm—a benefit many come to value as much as the poses. Whether you're new to yoga or experienced, we meet you where you are, helping you thrive on the mat and in daily life. All classes are offered both online and in-studio at our Providence location unless noted otherwise.

Foundations (Beginner), Intermediate & Advanced Class Breakdown

All classes are offered in person and online unless indicated otherwise.

Foundations Build strength, stability, and ease of movement through a well-rounded sequence of foundational postures. Standing poses fortify the legs, arms, spine, and core, while seated postures and back extensions help develop mobility and uprightness. With clear, step-by-step guidance, you'll improve balance and coordination in a way that's accessible and sustainable. Most classes close with one or two restorative poses to encourage rest and integration.

Great for newcomers to yoga or anyone seeking a steady, grounding practice.

Class Times: Wednesdays 6:00 pm, Saturdays 1:00 pm (In-Studio Only), Sundays 10:00 am

Foundations 55+ Designed for those experiencing age-related changes such as stiffness, arthritis, or osteoporosis. This class supports mobility, strength, and confidence in movement—with thoughtful pacing and clear guidance. Popular with active Providence adults.

Class Times: Mondays 10:00 am, Tuesdays 9:30 am (Tuesday class is online only) and Thursdays at 11:00 am

Intermediate Expand strength, flexibility, and refinement through a rotating sequence of postures—standing poses to energize, forward bends to lengthen, backbends to maintain vitality, and restoratives with pranayama for recovery. This structured approach ensures a well-rounded practice. Recommended for those with a solid foundation. Postures are taught in stages, offering lifelong material to explore.

Class Times: Mondays 5:30 pm (Livestream only), Mondays 6:00 pm, Wednesdays 7:30 am+, Wednesdays 10:00 am, Thursdays 11:00 am (Livestream), Fridays 10:00 am+, Saturdays 10:00 am, Sundays 8:00 am+

Weekly Special Topics

Pranayama Pranayama channels vital energy through breath awareness. Each class begins with supported Savasana for deep relaxation before progressing to reclining and seated pranayamas. Thoughtfully structured to be accessible for those new to pranayama. Previous yoga experience recommended.

Class Time: Mondays from 8:00 - 9:00 am

Renew & Restore: Prop-Supported Restorative Yoga Step out of the rush and into stillness. This class offers deeply supported postures using bolsters, blankets, and blocks to help the body release layers of tension and fatigue. With quiet, steady guidance, you'll explore what happens when you stop pushing and allow yourself to rest—fully. Expect fewer poses, more time in each one, and a shift you'll feel long after class ends.

Great for anyone needing recovery, stress relief, or simply a better night's sleep.

Class Time: Tuesdays from 6:00 - 7:15pm, Sundays from 5:30 - 6:30pm

On the Ropes Inspired by B.K.S. Iyengar's tradition of Yoga Kurunta, this special class invites you to explore the rope wall and experience familiar postures in new and insightful ways. The ropes provide support and traction, allowing you to stay longer in poses, explore alignment more deeply, and practice with confidence. Open to all levels—no prior rope wall experience needed. Online Yoga Sutra Study Group Join us online as we explore the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, the foundational text of classical yoga philosophy. Each session includes guided reading, discussion, and time for reflection. No prior study required—just curiosity and a willingness to engage with the ideas that shape our practice both on and off the mat. Sign up on our schedule to attend.
